The Akron Police Department has initiated an internal investigation to review the conduct of two police officers who were involved in the arrest of a suspect (Jordan Ely). The arrest has received criticism on social media for being excessive. The incident took place in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on Copley Road, near the suspect’s residence, on July 1. The police department has released body-worn and dash camera footage that captures the interaction between the officers and Jordan Ely Sr., who is 31 years old.
According to the officers’ report, they approached Mr. Ely during a routine patrol after noticing an orange Ford Edge with an expired temporary tag. A registration check confirmed the tag’s expiration. The internal investigation aims to thoroughly examine the actions of the officers involved in this incident. Jordan was found in court to be NOT GUILTY of resisting arrest. This is why we Always Film The Police
