Caleb Rogers was an officer with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department when he decided that he would rob three casinos. Between November 2021 and February 2022, he stole more than $160k from the Red Rock, Aliante Casino and Hotel, and the Rio Casino.
During his heists, he wore black latex gloves, a mask, and dark clothing to try and conceal his identity. According to the prosecutors, Rogers had a gambling addiction and was “low on funds.”
When he robbed the first casino, he was able to get $73,810, and although his face was covered, security cameras were able to capture the weird way that he walked. Rogers would kick out his left foot as he walked and could not run. During his second robbery, Rogers was able to get $11,500, and those security cameras were also able to capture his weird walk. On his third attempt, he was caught.
He was able to get $78,898, but employees were able to set off alarms. Rogers was then tackled by security, where he was eventually restrained and taken into police custody. Rogers identified himself with his police ID number and gave up his weapon which was identified as belonging to the police department.
Since his arrest, he has been on unpaid suspension and in jail. Caleb Rogers has now been charged and sentenced to 12 years in federal prison.
