Jose R. Gallegos is a Mexican-American criminal defense and immigration attorney and the Founder of Not Guilty Law Group. As the child of hard-working immigrants, Jose brings a deeply personal understanding of the fears, uncertainties, and high stakes immigrant families face when they encounter the American justice system.
His practice focuses on immigration removal defense, criminal post-conviction relief, family and humanitarian-based immigration, and CACI (Child Abuse Central Index) hearings. As a crimmigration practitioner, Jose ensures that no plea deal, charge reduction, or sentencing decision is made without considering the full immigration picture.
He earned his Juris Doctor from Western State College of Law and a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Sociology from Kansas Wesleyan University. Licensed in California (State Bar No. 336826), Jose serves on the Board of the Mexican American Bar Association of Los Angeles (MABA LA) and is active in AILA, NACDL, LACBA, and the National Immigration Project. Clients work directly with him in English or Spanish.
