Border Patrol Agent Threatens Motorist With Jail Before Driver Shows Passport

Video footage shared on mrcheckpoint.com captures an encounter between a motorist, a U.S. Border Patrol agent, and a local law enforcement officer.

During the interaction, the Border Patrol agent tells the driver that he must prove his citizenship or face arrest. When the driver asks what he did wrong and states that he does not consent to searches, the agent repeatedly says, "You're going to jail." The agent claims the reason is suspected illegal presence in the United States.

The driver repeatedly objects to the agent touching his property, opening his vehicle door, and taking his car keys. The driver asserts that suspicion alone is not a crime and insists that he is a U.S. citizen. After further dispute, the driver retrieves his U.S. passport and presents it to the agent.

The agent inspects the document on a mobile device while the driver asks for his car keys back. The driver points out a nearby officer wearing a sheriff uniform, stating that the entire interaction was captured on camera. The video concludes with the driver requesting his keys and addressing the officers about their conduct.
