Video Shows Fort Wayne Police Striking Man During Night Arrest

Video footage shows police officers restraining and striking a man on the ground during a nighttime arrest. In the clip, multiple officers hold the man down on a sidewalk while attempting to place him in handcuffs.

During the physical encounter, the man repeatedly yells that he cannot breathe. Officers shout profanities, commanding him to stop rolling and put his hands behind his back. At one point, an officer tells a person recording the encounter that if they do not want to get involved, they should disappear.

After securing the man in handcuffs, the man questions why he was struck in the face. Officers respond by stating that he ran from them, with one officer telling him he was lucky he did not get more. Bystanders continue to record the incident as officers stand over the detained man.
