Fort Wayne Police Officer Involved in Fatal Shooting During Traffic Stop
In a tragic incident, bystander footage captured a Fort Wayne Police Department officer fatally shooting a man during a traffic stop. The man succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Subsequently, the police department released a portion of the officer’s body camera footage. According to the police, the officer conducted the traffic stop for an unspecified violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed a gun beside the front seat passenger, identified as Linzell Parhm. Fearing for his safety, the officer repeatedly ordered Parhm to keep his hands on the dashboard. Despite these commands, Parhm removed his hands from the dash multiple times, prompting the officer to fire two shots, striking him as he allegedly reached for the gun again.
The released video shows officers removing a Draco AK pistol. This incident is now under both internal and criminal investigation and will also be reviewed by the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
