Tased While Restrained: Disturbing NYPD Incident Caught on Camera in Brownsville

Tased While Restrained: Caught on Camera in Brownsville

“I didn’t do nothing to you. I’ve been asking what I did.” – Victim in the video

On the evening of June 4, 2025, a disturbing incident unfolded in Brownsville, Brooklyn — a neighborhood known for legends like Mike Tyson and Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs, but also a place scarred by a long history of aggressive policing.

Submit To Mr. Checkpoint

This time, the abuse was caught on camera — and submitted directly to MrCheckpoint.com/submit by community member Shaa Dior.
In the video, four NYPD officers are seen detaining a man. He is already restrained — hands behind his back. Despite this, one officer tases him directly in the chest. Moments later, another officer can be heard yelling, “Tase him again.”
The man screams, confused and afraid:

“Why, bro? You didn’t say nothing. For no reason. I didn’t do nothing to you.”

Eyewitness Speaks Out
The woman who filmed the video shared her full account:

“I was standing on my balcony and saw 4 officers pinning a man down. His hands were behind his back. One officer shocked him with a taser to the chest. Another yelled, ‘Tase him again.’ Afterward, the man passed out and didn’t move for about 5 minutes. While unconscious, the officer went through his pockets — without a warrant. Later, 6 more officers arrived. Eventually, they called an ambulance.”

This isn’t just wrong — it’s dangerous, dehumanizing, and potentially illegal.

A Pattern in Brownsville
This isn’t new for the 73rd precinct. In 2010, Brownsville saw 93 police stops per 100 residents. That’s not public safety — that’s occupation.
There have even been years where misconduct complaints outnumbered felony crimes. Yet, according to the Civilian Complaint Review Board, only 1% of NYPD complaints ever result in serious discipline.
Let that sink in.

Why We Always Film the Police
This is exactly why we say it over and over again:

Always film the police. Always for the people.

Because if this video didn’t exist — would anyone even believe this happened?

We want to thank the brave woman who filmed this and spoke up. This man needed help, not force. A taser while restrained is unacceptable — and it happens far too often.

If you recognize the man in the video, please contact us. We want to help tell his story and seek justice.
