Dexter Wade was fatally struck by an off-duty officer’s SUV who works for the Jackson Police Department in Mississippi.
He was then buried without the police even giving notice to his family. Wade was 37 years old when he was killed back in March, and according to his death certificate, it was less than an hour after he left his home after he got into an argument.
Wade’s mother, Bettersten Wade, reported him missing a week after his death but wasn’t told about it until August 24th, almost half a year past his death. Dexter Wade was buried in a cemetery outside of a county prison, and his grave was identified by the number they put on it and nothing else.
Dexter was able to be easily identified from a prescription medication bottle that he carried, and the police could have VERY EASILY contacted his family because next of kin info was available at the clinic the medication came from.
The police argued that they tried to contact Wade’s mother, but she said that she never received any calls.
She filed a missing persons report, stayed in frequent contact with the police, searched the city, and asked for help online up until she was informed in late August.
Bettersten Wade and her attorney Ben Crump are petitioning the court to exhume Dexter’s body so that they can get an independent autopsy done and have a proper funeral for him and his family…
